- Frame condition, fixing issues and visible gaps.
- Margins around the door leaf and threshold.
- Hinges, closer, latch, handles and visible ironmongery.
- Intumescent strips, smoke seals and missing or damaged seals.
- Glazing, vision panels, letter plates, viewers and grilles where visible.
- Signage, self-closing action, latching and obvious obstruction.
- Flat entrance doors, communal doors, risers and common-area doors where included in the booking.
Survey FAQs
Will the report include photographs?
FDS positions reporting around clear photographic evidence and practical defect notes so the person managing the building can understand what has been found.
Can FDS price repairs afterwards?
Yes. Where suitable, FDS can price fire door remedial works from an FDS survey or from an existing report supplied by the customer.
Can I book online?
Online booking is for straightforward standard visual surveys of 1 to 50 doors where the building and access assumptions are met.
